چکیده

Human dentin exhibits a mechanical behavior like a functionally graded material with properties dependent on many physical and biological factors. This work describes and critically analyzes the methods to measure elastic moduli and damping and the corresponding results reported in literature. Furthermore, Mechanical Spectroscopy (MS) experiments have been carried out to determine with high precision the values of Young’s modulus and Q. Keywords— dentin, measurement, Young’s modulus, damping, mechanical properties, mechanical tests

Deformation Behavior of Human Dentin under Uniaxial Compression

Deformation behavior of a human dentin under compression including size and rate effects is studied. No difference between mechanical properties of crown and root dentin is found. It is mechanically isotropic high elastic and strong hard tissue, which demonstrates considerable plasticity and ability to suppress a crack growth. Mechanical properties of dentin depend on a shape of samples and a d...

Comparison of mechanical property and role between enamel and dentin in the human teeth

The mechanical properties of enamel and dentin were studied using test specimens having the same shape and dimensions because these properties might vary with the experimental conditions and specimen shapes and dimensions. Healthy human teeth were used as specimens for mechanical tests. The stress (MPa), strain (%), and elastic modulus (E, MPa) of the specimens were obtained from compression te...

Comprehensive analyses of how tubule occlusion and advanced glycation end-products diminish strength of aged dentin

In clinical dentistry, since fracture is a major cause of tooth loss, better understanding of mechanical properties of teeth structures is important. Dentin, the major hard tissue of teeth, has similar composition to bone. In this study, we investigated the mechanical properties of human dentin not only in terms of mineral density but also using structural and quality parameters as recently acc...

On a mathematical model of a human root dentin.

OBJECTIVE On the basis of recent experimental data, a new mathematical model that predicts creep in human root dentin has been developed. METHOD The chosen constitutive model comprises fractional derivatives of stress and strain and the restrictions on the coefficients that follow from the Clausius-Duhem inequality. RESULTS The four constants describing mechanical properties of the human de...

Structure, chemical composition and mechanical properties of human and rat cementum and its interface with root dentin.

This work seeks to establish comparisons of the physical properties of rat and human cementum, root dentin and their interface, including the cementum-dentin junction (CDJ), as a basis for future studies of the entire periodontal complex using rats as animal models. In this study the structure, site-specific chemical composition and mechanical properties of cementum and its interface with root ...
